Erika Christensen, born August 19, 1982 in Seattle, Washington, started acting at an early age. After performing on local theaters, the 12-year-old Erika decided to act professionally. Her parents found Erika a manager and agent, who helped her land a McDonald’s national ad campaign and the rest was history. Christensen then landed her first film in the Universal Picture “Leave it to Beaver,” followed by the 1999 Disney film “Can of Worms.”
Erika Christensen guest starred in numerous TV shows, including “Frasier,” “Touched by an Angel,” “3rd Rock from the Sun,” “The Practice” and “Nothing Sacred,” where she earned a nomination for “Young Star Award” from the Hollywood Reporter. However, it was her portrayal of a teenage addict in the 2000 critically acclaimed film “Traffic” that helped Erika Christensen wins fans and media over. For her work on the film, Erika received multiple awards, including “Female Standout Performance” at the Young Hollywood Awards, “Female Breakthrough Performance” at the MTV Movie Awards and “Outstanding Performance by a Cast Ensemble” at the Screen Actors Guild.
After “Traffic,” Erika Christensen landed another notable role in the film “Swimfan,” where she portrays a femme fatale who stalks the main character. She then appeared on several box office hit films, including “The Banger Sister” alongside Susan Sarandon, “The Perfect Score,” “Riding the Bullet,” “The Sisters” and “The Upside of Anger.”
While juggling films and TV roles, Erika Christensen tried her luck with singing, a passion she had since she was a child. In 1994, she sang backup vocals for Neil Diamond on his album, “The Christmas Album: Volume II.” Erika Christensen then received her screen singing debut in the TV adaptation of “Wuthering Heights” in 2004, followed by a duet with John Stevens for his version of the song “Let’s Fall in Love,” which is included in the album “Red.”
